Spike Alerts

Midstate EMS in conjunction with the Oneida County Health Department and Partnership to End Addiction are reaching out in regards to the Spike Alert Pilot Program. This Pilot Program allows for first responders to register on their phone to receive Spike Alert text messages when the Oneida County Health Department releases an alert for increase trends in overdoses. The Spike Alert notification system has a First Responder component that can readily used for Provider Safety. If interested please see the flyer below to register.

Midstate Hospital Reports

Over the past few weeks, we have been meeting with the Emergency Departments to collectively work on relations between the EMS and Hospital Systems. EMS reports are a reoccurring topic that has been conveyed to Midstate EMS from the hospitals. Previously, the short report format was created for providers to relay the pertinent information to staff taking the pre-arrival report. Please see the short report policy attached below. If you have any questions please contact us here in the office. Thank you all for your continued hard work, it does not go unnoticed.

EMT STUDENT TUITION

It was previously announced pre-COVID, to institute a Basic EMT tuition for classes.  Since COVID, it was recognized for the need of EMS providers.  It was decided here at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare EMS Education to not charge a tuition for the Basic EMT program for those students who belong to a(n) EMS/Fire Department.  This education department will continue to voucher New York State for the students Basic EMT program.  Tuition still will apply for the student who does not belong to an EMS/Fire department.  The tuition for a non-affiliated student remains at $700.00.

If you have any questions, please call Tony Salce, EMS Education Course Sponsor Administrator at 315-738-8351.

Thanks,

Tony
