Midstate EMS would like to send out a HUGE thank you to all of the Medical Volunteers who helped out with this year’s Boilermaker Road Race! With over 225 medical volunteers manning the aid stations, medical tents, ambulances, UTV’s and bike teams we are the largest group of volunteers for the race. Everyone who came out to help is greatly appreciated! We had several new agencies (Frankfort Center FD and Waterville FD to name a few) who joined our long standing, tried-and-true agencies who return year after year. 2019’s race stand-by was a success and we can’t wait to work with all of you again next year!
On the morning of Sunday, July 14, 2019, there will be several road closures for the Boilermaker Road Race. Most road closings will begin between 5:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. Roads should re-open after 11 a.m. on Sunday. Alternate routes must be used to access both the St. Luke’s and Faxton Campuses.
The St. Luke’s Campus will only be accessible via the Burrstone Road – Eastbound entrance. There will be no access through Champlin Avenue.
The City of Utica is hosting a 4th of July Parade this Thursday, July 4th, 2019. The parade will affect all emergency traffic around St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. The parade starts in front of Our Lady of Lourdes on Genesee Street and ends at the Rec Center on the Parkway. Therefore Genesee Street to the Parkway and the Parkway to the Rec Center will not be accessible from 10am until 1pm. Also, access to St Elizabeth’s can only be made off of Ballantyne Brae (which can be accessed from Oneida Street) during the same time frame. There will be also be a UPD Officer stationed at Amy and Genesee Street in case of extreme emergency to allow for access from Amy, across Genesee, to Ballantyne Brae.
