Madison County EMS Providers

You are invited to a kickoff meeting regarding the upcoming Countywide EMS Study to be conducted.  This meeting will take place December 10, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at the Auditorium in the Student Activities Building (STUAC, Bldg. 33) at SUNY Morrisville.   Parking will be available in the Student “A” and “B” lots.  SUNY Morrisville map information can be found below.

The objectives of this meeting are to review 1) the purpose of the study; 2) how the selection of Fitch and Associates was accomplished and their credentials; 3) what the study will examine; 5) what will be asked of you and your EMS organization; 6) the process and timelines involved; 7) what the final product will look like; and 8) to receive your valuable input.  Your contribution at this meeting is critical to ensure the study is well initiated, executed properly, and is as accurate as possible.

Some background is important to provide.  Earlier this year, several Town Supervisors came to me inquiring about EMS response times and with questions about how EMS is funded. It comes to no surprise to anyone that declining volunteer staffing is causing patient care, staffing, and financial ramifications.  On November 17, 2015, the Madison County Board of Supervisors voted to move ahead with a County-wide study of EMS.   The purpose of this study is to objectively examine the EMS system including 911, first response agencies, and the transporting agencies.   The exact scope of work of the study, a SUNY Morrisville map, as well as, other related documents can be viewed at: www.madisoncounty.ny.gov/emergency-management/ems-study

An authorization to engage Fitch and Associates from Platte City, Missouri was approved by the Madison County Board of Supervisors on November 17, 2015 after a thorough process that included a request for proposal and a subsequent assessment of the vendors that submitted bids.  The assessment committee that recommended Fitch and Associates to the Board was made up of Madison County EMTs (both volunteers and career), first response agencies, 911, two Town Supervisors, and me.  The recommendation of Fitch and Associates was unanimous by the committee.

We look forward to each and every one of you attending and actively participating in this December, 10, 2015 meeting in Morrisville.  Please circulate this notification as you see fit.  Feel free to email or call me directly to discuss this study.

V/R,
