Mohawk Valley Health System has centralized all invasive Cardiac Services to the St. Elizabeth Campus.  Effective August 1, 2015 the Faxton St. Luke’s Campus will no longer perform angioplasty and cardiac catherizations.  Patients presenting with ST elevation MI’s need to be transported to a hospital capable of providing invasive cardiac services.  The Midstate REMAC has issued the following REMAC Advisory

PURPOSE

To provide rapid access to a Cardiac Catherization Laboratory for Patients suspected of having a STEMI.

BACKGROUND

As of Aug. 1, 2015 the Mohawk Valley Health System has closed the Cardiac Catherization Laboratory at the St Luke’s Campus..

LIMITATIONS

Suspected Cardiac Patients presenting with a 12 lead EKG showing ST elevation of at least 1mm in two contiguous leads must be transported to a hospital with Cardiac Catherization capabilities.

EXPECTATIONS

A complete phone report along with a 12 lead EKG should be transmitted to the receiving hospital prior to arrival.

Pt with an unmanageable airway

St. Luke’s Champlin Ave and Burrstone Road will be closed Sunday July 12 starting at 5:30AM,  Access to St. Luke’s Campus will be limited and will require alternate routes.  In coming ambulances will need to access the hospital using alternate routes.  If you need assistance contact Resource Hospital early

Medical Volunteers are encouraged to attend one of the Boilermaker Updates this Wednesday July 8, at the EMS Offices at 14 Foery Drive, Utica.  The Updates will be conducted at 10AM  1PM   3PM  and 630PM.  These should last about 30 mins and will provide updated medical and operational information for Boilermaker Volunteers. 

This Web-based eLearning course prepares healthcare professionals to evaluate and assess patients with potential symptoms of myocardial infarction, interpret ECGs for signs of STEMI (ST-elevation myocardial infarction), and activate a system of care for rapid reperfusion of an occluded coronary artery. Includes a practice 12-lead ECG test and a 2-part American Heart Association exam. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a completion certificate and will be eligible to apply for continuing education credits.
