2011 GREAT AMERICAN IRISH FESTIVAL

Fellow Emergency Medical Responders,

The Frankfort Fire Department is looking for currently certified emergency medical technicians to volunteer and provide emergency medical and transport services during the 2011 Great American Irish Festival at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds, July 29 through the 31. Volunteers must be authorized to participate from their sponsor agency. A six or seven hour shift is required to include a ALS provider, required per shift. The return will be free admission into the festival before or after your tour. A uniform shirt is required with current EMS identification. Anyone interested with authorization is required to contact Chief Conigliaro at Frankfort Fire Department, or e-mail at m.conigliaro@aol.com or cconig4320@netzero.com .

MISSION OBJECTIVES:

Providers will be responsible to provide emergency medical services to include transport to medical facility, during the event. Providers will be mobile at many ongoing events throughout the grounds. Emergency medical response on the event grounds, patient evaluation and assessment, treatment, extrication, and possible transport.

Paramedic Refresher Class

Paramedic Refresher Class date has been set. Class will be held at The EMS Training Center on Sunset Ave. in Utica and start on 9-26-11 and end 12-15-11 and will be held on Monday’s and Thursday’s 6pm – 10pm and some Saturday’s 8am – 1pm. “Those” Patients

Ever have one of “those” patients?  The one who doesn’t want to cooperate, who can’t communicate, who you just can’t get through to?  Did you find out later that they were Autistic, had ADHD/ADD or Alzheimer’s disease?  Well, now you will have the knowledge and tools to help assess and treat “those” patients!  Friday, July 29th, two sessions of non-core CME hours will be held at Mid-State EMS Training Center, 2521 Sunset Ave, Room 101 regarding Autism, ADHD/ADD and Alzheimer’s patients and the special challenges pre-hospital providers face when assessing and treating these special patient populations.  3 hours BLS credits will be rewarded.  Day session is from 12 noon to 3pm, and the night session is from 6pm to 9pm.  Call Bill at 315-624-4539 to Register now and we look forward to seeing you Friday, July 29th!

Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance Corp’s 2nd annual international EMS competition.

”My name is Shawn Cathcart and I am the coordinator for the Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance Corp’s 2nd annual international EMS competition. We are currently soliciting for ALS/BLS teams, judges and patients. This is truly an amazing event and would love  to see representatives from your region. The first place overall team receives airfare, hotel and entrance fees to compete in a similar EMS competition in either Nebraska or Daytona Beach Florida.

I have attached this year’s flyer and link to the competition website. We are excited to welcome teams from Miami, Boca Raton, Daytona Beach, FDNY, Nebraska and many local teams from the central New York area.
