  • Presentations will be at the Training Center 2521 Sunset Ave. Utica NY 6 PM (no credit will be issued to attendees arriving after 6:15)

  • Continuing Education Certificates will be provided at the completion of each session. Providers enrolled in the NYS Re-certification Program (CME) may use these programs for non-core hours.

Making a Difference: April 6, 2011

Cheryl Perry RN will provide attendees with a refreshing look at EMS care today. For over 20 years Cheryl has watched and helped develop our Mid-State system evolve. The presentation is for both experienced and new providers and will include a round table discussion on healthcare today. CME hours 1.5 BLS 1.5 ALS

EMS Child Case review April 20, 2011

Once the patient is in the ER “our job is done”, what happens next? Sue Cooper, Family Life Specialist at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, will walk us through 2 separate and very different Pediatric cases from an EMS perspective. Sue will also review development and EMS approach to pediatric patients. EMS Provider Child Abuse/Neglect and mandatory reporting will conclude the program. CME hours 3 BLS

Catching zero pharmacology safety May 4, 2011

Medication mistakes and “near misses” Tonight watch the story of medication errors and how they impact not only the patient but the provider, agency and community. The Faxton St. Luke’s Pharmacy team will present this thought provoking presentation and will include a review and discussion of current medication safety practices. CME hours 3 ALS or BLS

Current Stroke practice: May 18, 2011

This program will provide the Pre-Hospital provider with an in-depth look at: current Stroke Care, Prevention, Signs and Symptoms, Pre-Hospital Care, Emergency Dept and Hospital Care. A question and answer session lead by Stroke Center Coordinator Angela Roach will complete this 3 hour Program. CME hours 1.5 BLS 1.5 ALS

Air medical flight school June 1, 2011

Mercy Flight Central will review and train attendees on the latest Air Medical issues. This program will include establishing a Landing Zone and transferring patients. An actual Mid-State call review will be included in this program. This program will be presented at the St. Luke’s campus (Boyle Board room and Heli-pad). CME hours 3 BLS

Treating burn patients June 15, 2011

Staff from the Clark Burn Center (SUNY Upstate) will provide this informative and up-to-date presentation on current burn patient treatment. The presentation will review both BLS and ALS burn care will include the most current treatments at the burn center. A case review will include pre-hospital, emergency department, burn unit and rehab care. CME hours 1.5 BLS 1.5 ALS
