2008 EMS Award Winners

On May 8th the Midstate REMSCO hosted our Annual EMS Awards Banquet. Almost 200 area Providers and their families enjoyed an evening of fun and fellowship.

EMD Training Opportunity

Midstate EMS and Oneida County 911 will be hosting Priorty Dispatch EMD Leadership Training June 4th at the Midstate Training Center 2521 Sunset Ave Utica beginning at 18:00. Instructor Fred Hurtado will give an “executive briefing” to EMS/Fire and Medical Leaders. This leadership training will provide a better understanding of the system’s total dispatch potential and can only help guide Midstate decision making in future dispatch matters. Anyone in a Fire/EMS or Medical leadership position is encouraged to attend. Any questions feel free to contact Dan or Vinny at 738-8351.

Great American Irish Festival

The Annual Great America Irish Festival is being held once again at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds on July 24, 25, and 26.  Current NYS Certified EMT’s are needed and encouraged and willing to volunteer four-hour blocked shift(s).  Your sponsoring agency chief office must approve all participation.  Your return will be free admission to the event anytime when not volunteering.  Interested providers should contact Chief Charles Conigliaro of Frankfort Fire Department.  His number is 315-534-1742, 315-894-4320 or 315-894-2277.

Road Closure

The Ride for Missing Children will be held Friday May 15th. This will cause the closing of roads along the route. Please see the fax being sent to your agency for a map of the route. Access to Utica Hospitals will be changed primarily  between 10:00 and 11:00 and again between 17:00 and 19:00. If you are coming to 326 or 327 during those times contact Resource for direction. All transmission between the last ambulance in the ride and Resource will be on 155.340 so you can monitor for updates.

Swine Flu Inservice

Ken Shilkret retired CDC specialist in communicable diseases will present an in-service on Flu topics specifically the Swine Flu (H1N1) and how it pretains to EMS. The program is being hosted by Central Oneida County Ambulance Service at their station in Clark Mills beginning at 17:00 Sunday May 3rd. All are welcome to attend.
